A truly special setting for that extra special occasion. With a long-standing reputation for its excellent cuisine our gourmet Silberdistel restaurant opened its doors to non-residents early in 2010 and by November of the same year the freshly refurbished Silberdistel had already been awarded not only a coveted Michelin star but also three cooking spoons by the "Schlemmer Atlas" making it one of the biggest "Schlemmer" stars of the year. This run of culinary award success continued with the Silberdistel being honoured with two toques and 16 Gault Millau points by the renowned Gault Millau restaurant guide. Chef de cuisine Kai Schneller, Maître d' of the Year 2012 Brian McLaren and the entire Silberdistel team look forward to welcoming you.
To mark its new celebrity status the "Silberdistel" also received a complete facelift. Under the watchful eye of Augsburg based interior designer Evi Rupprecht this extraordinary restaurant affording stunning views of the Allgäu Alps was completely restyled. Rupprecht homed in on the name of the restaurant for the main theme of the restaurant’s refurbishment and the Carline thistle features prominently throughout the restaurant. The muted silver, green and brown of this beautiful thistle harmonise to perfection with the wood and deerskin leather, the natural stone and wrought iron that have all been locally sourced. Being specially produced exclusively for the Sonnenalp, the soft furnishings are a successful mélange traditional and modern.
The restaurant is open: Tuesday – Saturday from 6.30 p.m. Non-residents welcome.
